Frequently asked questions
What is NAPLAN?
NAPLAN is the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit it in reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy. It is a snapshot, not a pass or fail exam.
How do the practice tests work?
Pick a year level and start a quiz. Multiple choice is marked straight away, with a short explanation. A section timer runs on full tests and area runs. At zero you can keep going. At the end you get a score, the questions to review, and a weekly chart saved on this device.
Are these real NAPLAN questions?
No. Every question on this site is original. They are not official NAPLAN questions, not copied from past papers, and this site is not affiliated with or endorsed by ACARA.
What does a pack cost?
A year pack is $50 AUD a year plus GST, for one year level: 3, 5, 7 or 9. It renews each year. Log in and choose Buy this pack. Stripe takes the card, and the pack is saved to that login.
Which year levels are covered?
Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Each has reading, language conventions, numeracy, and a writing prompt with a self-check.
Does my child need an account?
No. Anyone can practise straight away. An account saves answers to the dashboard. The weekly chart on the results page is saved in this browser even without an account.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to install.
How often should my child practise?
A short run a few times a week beats one panic session.
What if my child gets a question wrong?
That is the point. Every question has an explanation, and the score page lists the ones to try again.
Is writing covered?
Yes, as a separate task. Year 3 is 40 minutes, the other years 42. After writing, the student scores the piece against the NAPLAN criteria and gets a coach note. That note is not an ACARA mark.
